Update: Maureen Makes it to the Top!
You may remember, that Maureen joined us because she attempted Flat Top last year and not only didn’t make it to the top, was discouraged at how many people (who were waaaay older than her) passed her up during her climb.
Her goal this year was to make it to the top on her birthday. And she did it! Not only that, she sprinted the last few steps and felt great throughout the whole thing. And, more importantly, she has set her next goal. This is the key to staying on track with health and fitness. Constantly challenge yourself, think about your next goal as you near completion of the first goal. Set the goal, achieve it and set the next one.
Here’s what Maureen had to say about boot camp and her birthday present to herself:
I’m pleased to tell you that I did the hike to Flat Top!! We did it on Saturday past as the weather wasn’t looking good for my birthday on Sunday. I made it all the way to the top, although I have to admit, it was a little scary coming down!
I’m even more pleased to tell you that the descent was the hardest part for me. I was pleasantly surprised that all these months of boot camp must have helped as the aerobic part wasn’t even an issue. I even ran up some of the stairs!!
I’m attaching a pic of me at the top of the rock pile. It felt so good and so rewarding!!! I have to tell you now that I’ve decided to train for a road race that they hold in our home of St. John’s, Newfoundland each summer. It’s a 10 mile road race!! Big ambition for me, but I have a lot of time to do it. Thank you again for all of your support 🙂 It really gives me that extra boost I need!!!
