Congratulations to Sandy and Gayle! On October 12, they celebrated 5 years of Boot Camp Workouts with AlaskaFit. These two Rock-Stars have gone Super-Star status. Don’t let their small stature fool you, they are two tough ladies!
Gayle and Sandy both started Boot Camp at AlaskaFit when Ginny started Boot Camps at the Dome 5 years ago in October of 2009. They have been friends ever since. They have had incredible results over the years and are still maintaining and working towards their health and fitness goals. They always show up to their workouts with a positive attitude and even do burpees with a smile. They are not only role models at AlaskaFit, but they know how to, “get into life” outside of the gym as well.
If you are a member at AlaskaFit, you know who these two little balls of energy are. If you don’t, read their stories below for inspiration. Who will our next Super-Star be? It could be you!
Thank you Gayle and Sandy for an amazing 5 years, for inspiring other members and our trainers to be the BEST versions of themselves possible. Can’t wait to see what more years of your hard work can accomplish!
I first heard about AlaskaFit Boot Camp from Ginny, my husband Lewis’ and my Personal Trainer. What made me want to join was pure curiosity. I wanted to find out what boot camp was all about.
My favorite part about being an AlaskaFit Member is the creative exercise routines and interaction with the other members.
My best success is in how I feel when I get compliments on how I look. It makes me want to continue my efforts towards fitness including diet and exercise, which in turn gives me the energy to “get into life”!
I have so many memories of working out over the last five years, but I would have to say having our workouts outside at Taku Park, whether rain, sun and even snow (cottonwood falling); is one of my favorites.
Fitness has and will always be a part of my life.
The advice I would give to current and future members is keep going and just remember LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF PLAN B.
I first heard about AlaskaFit via a flier at the Dome where I go to run in the winter. I spoke with Ginny on the phone, telling her that I was wanting to increase my upper body strength to help me with skiing and swimming. She was very enthusiastic and explained the AlaskaFit program thoroughly, as well as how it could benefit me. I liked what I heard and signed up right away.
I have many favorite things about having a membership with AlaskaFit. One is the quality of the fitness program as well as the trainers who are all top notch and highly qualified. I like the emphasis that is placed on the nutrition portion of the fitness program. Lastly, and not the least of the things I like, is that AlaskaFit promotes a sense of community, friendship, support and caring for one another, and the importance of having fun.
Over the past five years I have improved by upper body strength and toned other muscle groups. I continue to struggle with some nutrition issues, which are very old habits and hard to break. AlaskaFit offers all the tools I need for improvement, and I’ve made some positive changes with, of course, room for improvement.
Alaska Fit has helped me “get into life” by always offering challenges toward improvement along with positive feedback and support.
My experience at Alaska Fit has been one big favorite memory. Besides all the things I mentioned
above, I enjoy the “Turkey Bustin’ Workout” where we all get together to work out so we don’t have to feel guilty about indulging in a delicious Thanksgiving meal and we can also donate to a community organization that helps homeless folks have a happier day as well. Can’t beat that!
Regarding my fitness journey and where I go from here, I plan to do all those activities I love to do to keep myself fit, healthy and happy as long as I can. And as age creeps up, there will always be challenges to the continuing journey. And hopefully I’ll be prepared for those challenges.
For all of you now associated with AlaskaFit, I encourage you to continue pushing forward, take on the challenges that are offered to you, and don’t give up. You’re worth it!
