17, 13, 11, 7, 4.
No, these are not the winning numbers for the lottery and they’re not the combination to my bicycle lock.
Each of the above numbers represents a change in my life that seemed small at the time, but proved otherwise later.
17 years ago I left a lucrative, successful career working for a large Wall Street firm in downtown Manhattan, took a job as a tour guide, went on to travel the world for a couple of years, made my way to Alaska and never left.
13 years ago I became a Certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise.
11 years ago I founded AlaskaFit.
7 years ago I started AlaskaFit Boot Camps in Girdwood.
4 years ago AlaskaFit moved into 6251 Tuttle Place, Suite 102 and AlaskaFit, in its current state, was born.
As AlaskaFit and I grew, I learned a LOT about owning a business, marketing, and the 1,001 other tasks that go along with owning a company that is intimately invested in the lives of its clients. I’ve made mistakes, savored victories, learned lessons and continue to learn every day.
I’ve been blessed to do something every day that I am passionate about and I have been blessed with incredible members of my team and, I believe, the best clients in the world.
As we move into the next phase of AlaskaFit, I am excited to be telling you about some changes you will be seeing from us.
The first change will be here on our website. You may have noticed a change to its look and feel. We missed a few previous upgrades and went all the way to looking outdated. We’re excited about the new look and feel…tell us what you think (you can leave a comment below).
We’re also making the website easier to navigate. We have a ton of content here and we’re proud of it. We also know it can be overwhelming. And, we know we are somewhat guilty of over communication. So we are making some changes.
The first change is that I will be contributing to our blog. I love to write, I love to communicate with you and I love to hear your feedback. I’ve gotten away from it and am excited to be back at it.
We will be branding our blogs. It will now be easier to figure out which blog means the most to you. We are breaking our blogs up into 4 categories: FitTips with Ginny, Nutrition, Strength/Kettlebells, MedFit/Fitness. Once per week, you will see a Facebook post alerting you to the blog and you will get an email letting you know it is available.
More changes and improvements will continue to be announced over the next few months. Keep an eye on this space for updates.
Is there something in your life you want to change? Do you want to improve your eating habits, your relationships with others, or even the number on the scale in your bathroom? Whatever it is, it’s probably an uncomfortable matter to address. Accepting where you are right now and coming to terms with whatever it is that is holding you back can be the hardest part. We’ve all been there at some point in our lives… And as you probably know from experience, the acceptance part isn’t something anyone can tell you to do.
But, once you’ve committed to a goal, magic happens. Change happens.
We’ve made an easy to follow print-out to help you start the process of reaching your goals. (Consider it magical fairy dust.)
