Why do we care so much about your results?
For me, it’s personal. I’m Ginny, the owner and founder of AlaskaFit.
As a young girl, I watched my mom struggle with her weight. As a matter of fact, she struggled her entire life to lose weight. It made her miserable. She hated being photographed, she beat herself up mentally and emotionally because she was unable to lose weight. She tried again and again to lose weight. These were generally short-term efforts that yielded zero results for her.
I was unable to help her overcome her struggle.
I could see that what she needed was to make a lifestyle change, not just go on a diet. But I was unable to help her. Maybe it was because I was her daughter (it’s tough to take advice from your kid, I’m guessing). Maybe it was because she never saw the value she added to the lives of everyone around her. I’ll never know.
What I do know is that even though she tried to hide her struggle and frustration, she couldn’t. I saw it. I dedicated my life to helping others achieve what she never could. Maybe by helping you, I am helping her. I don’t know. What I do know is that seeing my clients get results is the only reason AlaskaFit exists.
- In 2005, I launched AlaskaFit with the single goal of helping people make the lifestyle change that guarantees long-term health and fitness.
- In 2007, I introduced a structured nutrition program to AlaskaFit clients.
- In 2009, I launched AlaskaFit Boot Camps to bring larger groups of people together, share the fun of working out (yes, it can be fun) and help more people make real changes to their lives.
- On December 5, 2011, AlaskaFit opened its doors at our current location, 6251 Tuttle Place, Suite 102 (we’re just off the corner of Lake Otis & Dowling).

Your Fitness and Nutrition Pros
Bobbi Jo: Operations Manager and Personal Trainer/Group Exercise Instructor: Bobbi Jo is the woman in charge at AlaskaFit, pictured here with two of our clients (Bobbi Jo’s in the AlaskaFit T). She is our Office Manager primarily, making sure everything from customer service to stocking the paper is taken care of. She also has a Personal Trainer Certification and a Group Exercise Instructor Certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). And she can jump in and teach class when we need it, too. Bobbi Jo brings with her many years in the fitness industry both in administrative and teaching roles. If you have any questions about things at AlaskaFit, Bobbi Jo has the answers.
Sarah, Lead Trainer: Sarah is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National
Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT) and has a BA in Exercise Science and is one of only two Strong First Giryas (SFG Level II) in the state of Alaska. She is a former NCAA ASC All Conference softball player who brings a unique set of skills to AlaskaFit.
As lead trainer, she is the team-builder and motivator for our entire training team. She makes sure every client is taken care of and that all of our trainers know just what each client needs to be successful in class.
Neil, Personal Trainer: Neil joined our team after returning to Alaska from California. A certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS with NSCA), Neil brings 20 + years and a passion for coaching clients to their best to our team.
Kristyn, Personal Trainer: Kristyn is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES) and a graduate of the National Personal Training Institute. She brings an enthusiasm and passion to our team that consistently inspires and motivates our clients through the toughest workouts.
Rebekah, Lead Nutrition Coach: Rebekah discovered she loved food and cooking at a young age. As she got older and more concerned about her own health and fitness, she started looking for healthy food options. With more learning, she was able to change her perspective on food and view it as a tool to heal, and fuel her body, not as something to be restricted and controlled. She is now working towards a Registered Dietitian degree at UAA and is excited to be at AlaskaFit and helping others!
Staci, Nutrition Coach: Staci completed her BS in Nutrition and is working towards her degree in Dietetics at UAA. Learning about nutrition and fitness has been an exciting journey for Staci and she has enjoyed every minute of it. She tries to apply what she learns to her everyday life, realizing she too has some changes to make, just like the rest of us. She finds that being around those that are like-minded when it comes to nutrition and fitness is motivation and encouragement for her own self to live a healthier lifestyle. Nutrition truly is a passion and she is excited to be able to share her love of healthy eating with you.
